![]() The only way to get the "Crest Factor" to return to midway is to shelf cut say -6db 150hz and below on either kick or bass, even though they are playing nice together. I make electronic hip hop with funk influences so the bass and kick are always needing extra care from me to play nice together. So volume may not have anything to do with it like I thought. If I dial back the volume of the low end it often remains the same on the Crest Meter. ![]() Here is where I need clarification as this even happens with no processing on the low end whatsoever. So this means my low end is too compressed according to Izotope. So sometimes my mix shows the meter a tad bit past halfway and towards the right. When weighted to the right, it indicates that your mix is ‘too compressed’ in the low end. When the meter is weighted to the left, it indicates that your mix is ‘too dynamic’ in the low end. The Crest Factor meter shows information about the low end dynamic range of your track.
